On November 13, World Kindness Day, Kindness Pakistan together with the Green Living Association organized a performing arts event for students from renowned schools in Lahore at the Avari Hotel Lahore with the theme “Creating an environment of kindness” in which the students performed extraordinarily to express their commitment to the environment of kindness.

Background
Autumn in Pakistan’s schools and colleges is often a time when students gather with friends for various extracurricular activities, hoping to share space with people they know and learn how to work together toward productive goals. To celebrate World Kindness Day, students from various schools in Lahore joined hands to “Create an Environment of Kindness” to promote Kindness as the path to cross-community harmony and the coexistence of people from different backgrounds.

By agreeing to express kindness to one another, students from different backgrounds agree to accept each other as fellow humans, regardless of their religious, ethnic, or racial background, and thus try to understand each other’s views and learn more about each other’s origins.
Our campaign “Creating an Environment of Kindness” is part of the’Vision 2025′, which aims to bring Environmental Peace to most segments of Pakistani society by the year 2025. Through this campaign, students from different educational institutes and diverse backgrounds demystify the misperceptions about one another and undertake to live in harmony and peace by means of Kindness.

Students campaigning to “Create an Environment of Kindness” see similarities between cultures and philosophies that no one would otherwise have expected. It’s similar to the way people can stereotype people from different backgrounds as a sure thing. The more knowledgeable about each other – the more similar experiences are.
As “Creating an Environment of Kindness” is a start to understanding how to overcome apparent differences specifically in Pakistan and generally in the world, students try to promote the message of Kindness on campus and outside of school. Some pressing issues of the day, such as environmental degradation, extremism and lack of trust, can also be resolved by working together with Kindness.

There are many inspiring examples of cultural and interfaith harmony on campuses in Pakistan, through which students collaborate on environmental and development projects in the country with mutual understanding and admirable teamwork. Threats to peace and environment could only be minimized if we put our minds and hearts together under the shimmering light of Goodness.

Ultimately, it may be easier for students from different backgrounds to cooperate with each other in establishing an Environment of Kindness. Eventually, in collaboration with their friends and family, students can make a significant change inside and outside society for environmental protection and peaceful living.
